Prosthodontist???? Why is it a good idea to have a Prosthodontist in our practice??? Dr. Holt Gray is a Prosthodontist and he joined us a little over a year ago. We have been very fortunate to have him and his expertise in our office. A Prosthodontist is a dentist who has specialized in the restorative aspect of dentistry. Dr. Gray has extensive training in the placement and restoration of implants and he also has a great eye for understanding aesthetic demands that we are working with more and more today.   Good Decisions!!!! Good decisions pay for themselves. Dr. Sanderson decided many years ago that he wanted to provide the best possible treatment alternatives to you his patients. That decision was founded from decisions made based on what he wanted to have accomplished with is life’s work. He really did not understand all of the ramifications of that decision when it was made…. He came to realize that decision had wide ranging ramifications. One of those ramifications was that he would have to use the higher end laboratories and that he would use noble metals in his restorative treatments. Recently it has come to light that lots of dentists are sending their crown and bridge work off shore in order to save money due to insurance and other constraints. Dr. Sanderson and Gray have never done that and do not intend to do that…. One of the problems that has arisen as a result is that lead has been found to be in some of the crowns that were off shore crowns… We do not have to even wonder if lead is in any of our crowns… We know it is not because we know what each crown is made from and that it is made here in Hoover Alabama.

  We have found that most people make decisions about the people they meet based on their first impression of them. Dentistry has a great way of helping you make a great first impression. With a great smile you can have an opportunity to really make great first impressions every day... Besides making great first impressions it is also extremely important to have a healthy mouth too! We have always had the main emphasis of this practice on health! That will never change! We have found in the past 24 years of practice that when we put form and function together then health is always a part of the equation as well.

  Oral Cancer is a problem that many of us are concerned with on a daily basis... One of the problems with Oral Cancer evaluation today is that the face of Oral Cancer is not what it used to be... Today we are finding people who do not fit the normal profile that develop problems with their soft tissues of the mouth.... Velscope is a great tool for us to be using! It is a light that we can shine on the Oral Mucosa and as we look at that tissue through a special lens we can see normal tissue and we can see tissue that looks abnormal... The abnormal tissue may or may not be visible to our eyes under normal lighting... This technology then gives a chance to "catch" lesions that are not really visible to our eyes yet... This has been very helpful to us and to our patients. You will be able to learn much more about the Velscope on your next visit with us...
